Faith, The Word

Words

Words have power.  But until you use them, they are just words.

We’ve all heard sayings like, ‘it’s only the words you believe that have power.”   This is the truth!  Whether those words are on a page, thoughts in your head, or even those spoken-none of them have power alone.  We recognize this in the natural realm.  And we usually use this to teach our children not to take in other people’s words that potentially make them feel bad.  But this is not mind over matter.  This is a spiritual truth.  And it will work in the positive or negative.

God used His words to speak the universe into existence.  The power in the Word of God ultimately has more power than any other words ever spoken, and can change anything in the natural realm.  So what makes God’s words that powerful for you?  He has given us the ability to speak His word, and have His authority to back it up!

Put all that aside for a moment and just think about words.  There are God’s Words written on a page of the Bible.  There are other people’s words spoken, perhaps negative words and even facts about a situation in your life.  Then there are your thoughts you have and words you have spoken.

For example:

God’s word: you are prosperous

Banker: you don’t have enough

You: I’m afraid, what if I can’t pay my bills?

All of these are just words (at that moment).  The only reason the words of the banker have any power is because you chose to believe those words.

Why?  Why do we tend to automatically believe the words of a negative report over our life?  Simply because we have had experience with them. We’ve lived our lives going by the WORDS spoken over us in the natural realm.  If you only know about the WORDS of the world those will be the ones you will take in as your own and live by. That is the way your life will go.

But through Jesus, God has given us authority to use His WORDS (containers of His power) to live our lives by.  We can choose to take them as ours, and allow the power that backs them up to work on our behalf.  But we have to choose to let them govern our life if we want to have the results they produce.

Once you take God’s word as the one you choose to go by, you will come to have experience with His Word coming to pass in your life.  After a while, His words will be the ones you will be drawn to agree with when situations arise! And your life will follow the words you believe.  If you don’t like the results you’re getting, then choose different words to agree with!  God’s Word!

2 Timothy 2:13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.

Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that He should lie, or a son of man, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?

Jeremiah 1:12 Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”

Psalm 138:2 I will worship toward Your holy temple, And praise Your name For Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.

John 17:17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

Isaiah 55:11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Proverbs 4:20-22 My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.

John 15:7-8 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

Again, God’s Words ultimately have more power than any other words ever spoken because they are the parent force that has given substance to everything else.  Take God’s word over the word of the banker, doctor, news, your own experience or what the circumstance is saying to you in the natural.
