Living in the Blessing – part 2

Great and Precious Promises

He did it so we could be like Him on earth.
I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. Psalms 82:6

What I have found to be the most difficult task in sharing about The Blessing as part of our salvation, isn’t that people disagree when you tell them that God wants them to be blessed, but rather, taking their religious caps off to believe that the blessing is always and only good things!  People often get offended when you tell them God is NOT blessing us with poverty, sickness, tests/trials, etc.!  When you bless someone, do you yourself speak something positive or negative to them?

Think about that.  There wasn’t any pain, suffering, sickness, or lack in the Garden of Eden.  When God blessed Adam and Eve, He empowered them with only good.  Why would God use something that came from sin, the curse and corruption to teach us anything, much less bless us with it?  He doesn’t need anything outside of His original design to help His cause and purpose in our lives or for His will to come to pass in the world.  It is His Word that teaches, corrects, and trains us in righteousness, so that we may be fully equipped for what He has called us to do. (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Religious people rarely blame God as being mean by giving them sickness, causing turmoil in a relationship, causing them to lose their job, and on and on; on the contrary, many Christians equate these things as demonstrations of His love for us.  People often say they are blessed, but their lives are full of bitterness, fear, worry, sickness, poverty, uncertainty, joyless, etc. and saying it is from God and they believe it is God’s will.  They believe God uses these things (which are actually Satan’s tactics) or allows them for some divine purpose.   However, this is a total defamation against His character and nature.  So, if this is what you believe, it will be almost impossible for you to live in the Blessing God has spoken over you. God IS love.  (1 John 4:7).  It says in Matthew 7:11, “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”  It is vital that you know the true nature and character of God to get a revelation of the Blessing.

We simply need to take what God says as His Word.

  • Galatians 1:3-5 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
  • John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
  • James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

If it’s good, it’s from God, if it’s bad, it is from the devil.  God was concerned enough about us not suffering in sin, pain, and eternal damnation, that He sent His own son to suffer all judgement on our behalf so that we could live an abundant life!!

All that Jesus accomplished, giving us salvation, is The Blessing!

Great and precious promises- God’s spoken favor

2 Peter 2-4 “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises”

  1. God has already blessed us (through Jesus)
  2. These blessings give us all things that pertain to life and godliness
  3. There are great and precious promises to be had in this life

The Blessing is God’s spoken favor over mankind.  It includes physical healing, deliverance, and prosperity in every area of our life.  It is everything good and the ability to overcome everything bad.  Being blessed by Almighty God means we, as His children, have received an inheritance.  If we want to live (abide) continually in the Blessing, we have to first know what God has included in the Blessing.  We need to spend time in the Word of God, learning what our inheritance as children of Almighty God is.

1 Corinthians 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

As with everything provided by salvation, the blessing (empowerment) of God is received by faith (Romans 1:17)  As we believe and act in faith, these spiritual blessings become physical realities.
