Have you seen God?

People have all kinds of ideas of what God is like.  Most make their assumptions from personal experience or what religion tells them.  But what many fail to realize is that Jesus came to show us God.

Jesus IS God in the flesh, manifested to show humanity the nature and character of God.

John 14:7 “Jesus said, ‘…If you know Me, you will also know My Father. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.’”

All you have to do is look in the Gospels, and you’ll see Jesus, the exact representation of the Father.

Hebrews 1:3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.

I love what Jesus says at the end of John 14:7 “…from now on you do know Him and have seen Him.”

Scripture tells us clearly God’s character and nature through Jesus, and that He is in fact, still the same today!

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.

If Jesus hasn’t changed (being the representation of the Father), then God, the Father hasn’t changed.  Hallelujah!

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Jesus IS the word (of God) made flesh.  Now we simply look in the Word (the Bible) and we can see God!

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Unfortunately, most people see Jesus’ good works in the gospels, His compassion on the sick or hurting, and then say that was then; but this is now.  What does that really mean?  It does NOT make sense.

They are saying that God almighty (who is love) forgave sinners, performed miracles, delivered and healed all who came to Him for 3 years, JUST to display His power, but it isn’t really WHO He is or what He wants for anyone else….

We are His Children.  He came to show His love for us and to set us free from sin and over all the power of the enemy.

1 John 4:8 “…for God is love.”

1 John 3:8 “… For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”

This isn’t for those lucky few during Jesus’ earthly ministry.  He came to deliver us from all the works of the enemy.  Jesus tells us in the book of Luke, “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19)

Who do you say Jesus is?

Is He full of compassion and love toward you just as he was in the gospels?  Do you feel His mercy and forgiveness when you miss it?

Jesus asked His disciples the same question.

Matthew 16:15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

John 12:45 And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me.

Jesus Himself said he came to make God known to us.  He rebuked Philip for not understanding this.  Philip asked, “Just show us the Father…”

Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? (John 14:9)

If we’ve seen Jesus, we’ve seen the Father!  AMEN

Still, today, people choose to see God very differently than how Jesus represented Him during His earthly ministry.

God sent Jesus to make Himself known to the world.  Through Him we might have eternal life.

John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

If you want to know God, His will, His character and nature, spend time in the Gospels.  There you will see God working through a human being (Jesus is God and man), demonstrating His nature and character.
